Letters / Control systems
At the dentist’s in St Olaf Street on Tuesday morning, I was dismayed to find that, even on a day as sunny as Tuesday, the room was completely overshadowed by a mass of overgrown fuchsia in front of the window.
So much so that hardly a patch of blue sky could be seen. When I said it wouldn’t take much effort to cut and clear this growth, I was told that staff were under strict instructions not to do so, regardless of volunteering their labour.
Health & Safety or budgetary restraints? They could not say.
It’s a sad reflection on council or health board control systems that prevent workers from enjoying a blue sky on a fine day by refuting a simple, low-cost solution.
