News / Toppled cement mixer bulldozed off road
A HUGE concrete mixer lying on its side and blocking one lane of the busy A970 near Sumburgh airport has been bulldozed off the road.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident just after midday on Friday.
The artic unit had become detached from its truck in a sharp bend between Sumburgh Hotel and the airport.
A spokeswoman for the police said that initially the road had only been passable for car and smaller vehicles.
No one was injured in the one vehicle road traffic accident.
Efforts are underway to recover the artic unit later this afternoon.
