News / Olympic Flame Choir
WELL known local musician Brian Nicholson is famous for many things, but sporting prowess may not be one of them.
Despite this Brian has seized his chance to be part of Shetland’s Olympic story by writing a brand new, especially commissioned song to be sung as part of nationwide initiative “Scotland’s Summer of Song”, a project funded by Creative Scotland.
His remit: to create a piece in dialect on the theme of “Light and Flame”.
The result: Runnin’ Wi a Braand in Wir Haand will join the many other songs being sung to welcome the Olympic Flame as it blazes its way across the country.
Local people are now being invited to be a part of the celebrations as a member of this unique Olympic Flame Choir.
Rehearsals are at Islesburgh Community Centre on Wednesday 23 May at 7pm. For more information contact Izzy Swanson on 01575 744017 or Izzy.Swanson@shetland.gov.uk
