News / CLAN walks
CANCER charity CLAN is offering a new service encouraging its Shetland clients to get out and about.
CLAN walks will be led by trained walker leaders, lasting between 30 and 45 minutes each, and they are specifically designed for those affected by cancer.
CLAN Shetland volunteer Mike Cunynghame said that in addition to the health benefits of walking, the social element of meeting likeminded people plays an important role in the new service.
“While the walks last up to 45 minutes each, we have designed them in a way that we can walk and talk, and usually finish the walks near a café somewhere,” he said.
Walks usually commence from CLAN Shetland’s offices at 20 St Magnus Street, Lerwick, on Wednesday afternoons.
For more information and how to get involved contact Mike Cunynghame or local CLAN manager Dorothy Jamieson on 01595 697275 or e-mail: dorothy.jamieson@clanhouse.org
Dorothy can also be contacted via text to 07548 218684.
