A detailed map highlighting the filming locations, stop and go points, and driving sequence routes in Shetland. The map includes contact information, schedule details, and specific instructions for drivers.

Filming of series 8 of the Shetland detective drama is due to start on Tuesday 4 April and will continue in various locations around Shetland until 21 April.

The first two days of filming will be in the Tingwall valley.

The team behind the filming is apologising in advance for any inconveniences that may cause.

Location manager Davie Gardner said: “We realise the fact this often creates issues – together with associated restrictions – as regards local traffic movements, parking etc to various degrees of impact depending on our filming related requirements.

“With this in mind, and with a view to creating a safe working environment for our crew, while equally endeavouring to maintain traffic flow and access in such areas, we undertake regular dialogue with the SIC Roads Department who, where necessary, grant us specific traffic ‘control’ measures to suit both our needs and that of members of the community.

“Throughout the above filming period, ITV Shetland – the producers of the Shetland series – will endeavour to keep the public timeously updated regarding any such traffic orders or restrictions via announcements in the local media and posts in social media.

“Meantime, thanks for your co-operations in this respect.”

Tuesday 4 April from between midday and 11.30pm and Wednesday 11am until 10pm

A series of ‘Stop/Go’ traffic ‘holds’ will be in operation in the Tingwall valley – B9074 – on the above days during the above times, while filming takes place at the nearby Tingwall Kirk and the house immediately across the road from the kirk.

These holds will NOT be in place for the entire duration of the day, but when they are applied, they will last no longer than a few minutes on each occasion when ‘action’ and in particular our ‘action vehicles’ are active on the road.

Please note the locations and additional details contained on the attached diagram. Thanks for your patience with this.
