Community / Museum closed after heating problem
THE SHETLAND Museum and Archives remains closed following a problem with the building’s heating system.
It comes after a leak was discovered on 28 December.
Sandy Middleton, who is head of engagement at museum operator Shetland Amenity Trust, said the hope is to get the system back up and running soon.
“We opened the building to the public between Christmas and New Year, however, we discovered on the 28 December that there had been a leak from our heating system,” she said.
“Luckily the water damage was minimal and well contained.”
Middleton said naturally it was a difficult time of year to get experts in to fix the problem in the Lerwick building.
“They have now been in and are trying to source new parts for the system,” she said on Thursday.
“Unfortunately we are unable to open the building to the public without heating or hot water but hope to be back open again soon.”
