Letters / Decisions defy belief
Some of the decisions made by the SIC planners and councillors during the past few years defy belief.
A 103-turbine wind farm good – a small illuminated Tennent’s sign on the Thule bad.
An Italian restaurant at Parkgate Brae bad – a 10 metre increase in turbine height good.
An attempt to stop further deterioration to an ancient house in Unst bad requiring enforcement action – very very bad.
Large wind farm just outside Lerwick – very very good.
Am I being cynical or do I detect a pattern emerging here? Surely not!

Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
