News / Nominate youngsters who have gone the ‘extra mile’
SHETLANDERS are being asked to nominate local people aged between eight and 26 who represent the “spirit of young people”.
Ten people will be picked in Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles and be flown to Edinburgh for a parliamentary reception in November before attending the Young Scot Awards.
It is part of a campaign Loganair is running in conjunction with Scotland’s year of young people 2018.
The airline will also rename one of its Saab 340 planes The Spirit of Young People, while young people from Orkney and the Western Isles will receive discounted flights to attend a three-day year of young people event in Shetland in September.
People can nominate youngsters in April and May through this link.
Loganair said these young people could have “gone the extra mile, excelled through sport, arts, culture, been ambassadors for their community, helped the environment, been a fundraising hero, promoted the importance of physical and mental health, challenged the negative stereotypes of young people or championed diversity.”
