News / Jenna’s Mareel show
AWARD winning Shetland fiddler Jenna Reid will return home for a special one-off concert in Mareel this summer.
Reid, accompanied by Edinburgh guitarist Kevin Mackenzie, pianist Harris Playfair and her sister, fellow fiddler Bethany Reid, will perform at the arts complex on Saturday 28 June.
Since releasing her debut solo album Laughing Girl and winning a gong for “best up and coming artist” at the Scots Trad Music Awards, Jenna has continued to grow her reputation as one of the brightest talents to have graced Shetland’s traditional music scene.
Reid, who is also a member of the trad groups Blazin’ Fiddles and RANT, remains in high demand both as a performer and a tutor. She and sister Bethany will also be curating the week-long Fiddle Frenzy programme in August.
“I’m really excited to be performing in Mareel,” she said. “It’s the first time I’ve played a solo concert in Shetland in a few years and the first time for me as a soloist in Mareel.”
Shetland Arts’ marketing officer Lisa Ward said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Jenna home for her first ever headlining concert in Mareel.”
