Viking addendum
THE SUBMISSION of Viking Energy’s long awaited addendum to their original planning application has been postponed for a further month, the wind arm developer has confirmed.
In autumn last year the company, which is part owned by the Shetland Charitable Trust, announced that in response to objections to their original planning application they would lodge an addendum.
This was originally envisaged to be complete by early 2010. Following a number of further delays it was hoped that a revised plan could be submitted by the end of May.
Project co-ordinator Allan Wishart said that more discussions were needed but he hoped for the addendum to be lodged by the end of June.
Bell joins the board
SHETLAND’S former police area commander Malcolm Bell has been appointed to the board of NHS Shetland.
Shetland NHS board chairman Ian Kinniburgh welcomed the appointment of Mr Bell, who recently took on the job of general manager for social enterprise COPE.
“He brings a wealth of relevant experience and knowledge gained at a high level in the public sector and has demonstrated his commitment and enthusiasm for improving the quality of life for vulnerable people in Shetland in his work with other agencies and committees,” he said.
Mr Bell was forced to resign from the police force for health reasons.
