News / Co-op cash raiser
STAFF at the Co-op stores in Lerwick and Brae have banked more than £4,500 for ENABLE Scotland, a charity supporting young people with learning disabilities.
The two stores organised a series of events and collections throughout 2011 which totalled £4,528 when the cash was counted, adding to more than £7 million raised by the Co-op nationwide.
All the cash will go to launch the Inspire Me project to help people learn skills, gain employment or become a volunteer.
Operations manager Steve Stewart congratulated staff in Shetland and thanked customers for their continued support

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
