SHETLAND’s junior intercounty team is celebrating after winning the 71st Stuart Cup.
The team beat its Orkney counterparts by 161.5 points to 141.5 to retain the cup at the weekend.
Shetland won in athletics and swimming, with Jasmin Smith breaking records in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 100m individual medley events.
Seumas Mackay and the boys relay broke county records in the athletics, while Lucy Holden broke county and Shetland records. Katie Dinwoodie also tied a record.
The hockey saw Orkney win 3-1, although Shetland held it at a draw until the last ten minutes.
Shetland was leading by three points going into Sunday, with goals from Scott Johnson and Lewis Harkness securing a 2-0 victory in the football.
Orkney won in the final netball event 45-34, but it wasn’t enough to claim overall victory.
