News / Thick fog disrupts flights
SUMBURGH Airport’s flight schedule has been severely affected by fog again, with Loganair confirming a number of cancellations on Friday (1 June).
By mid-afternoon the only flight which had hit the clouds was the early morning departure to Glasgow – although it was four hours late in leaving.
Flights connecting Shetland with Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Kirkwall have been cancelled.
Loganair earlier said that it would be offering passengers travelling on Friday the chance to re-book for an alternative flight at any time within the next seven days free of charge.
The airline added that it has standby aircraft and crews in place to help “recover any disrupted services as soon as reasonably possible once weather conditions permit”.
