News / Campaigners contact councillors
A NEWLY formed campaign group has sent local councillors the results of its recent ‘public listening exercise’ about how trustees are selected for the Shetland Charitable Trust.
In addition, Democracy for Shetland’s Charitable Trust has given the councillors a list of eleven reasons why appointed trustees are “undesirable” for the £230 million trust.
Those interested in reading the reasons can find them on the group’s website.
It follows a recent decision by the charity to reduce the number of council trustees from seven to four and increase the number of appointed trustees.
Vice-chairman Jonathan Wills attempted to table an amendment seeking up to eight trustees being directly elected, but it was blocked.
