News / Fetlar Wind share offer
A SMALL cooperative that offers 223,000 one-pound community shares in a small wind farm project on the island of Fetlar is hosting a series of public meeting starting on Wednesday.
Fetlar Wind wants to build two 25kw turbines on the small island to feed a local green energy scheme as well as the community’s own electric minibus.
Members of the organisation will be on hand to answer any questions about the project ahead of the share offer closing date of 20 November.
The public meetings are on:
- 4 Nov, Cullivoe Hall, Yell, from 4 – 8pm;
- 5 Nov, Uyeasound Hall, Unst, from 4.30 – 8pm;
- 6 Nov, Symbister Hall, Whalsay, from 2 – 6.30pm;
- 7 Nov, Islesburgh Community Centre, Lerwick, Room 11 from 2 – 8pm.
The following week the team will be visiting Sandwick, Voe, Ollaberry and Aith returning to Lerwick at the weekend.
Project manager Robert Thomson said: “I am looking forward to the public events, meeting potential investors and people interested in the project.
‘We have had good interest in the share offer, which is now translating into applications for shares.
I would urge anyone who is interested in investing to get in touch sooner rather than later, as the deadline for share applications is less than three weeks away.”
