Welder – Rotational – Offshore/Onshore

Lerwick Engineering and Fabrication have a Welder vacancy to join us for a rotational job offshore on a variety of offshore installations, vessels and drill rigs. This opportunity will be based out of our Lerwick base of operations with occasional trips offshore as required.

We are looking for time-served welder/fabricators with experience in MMA, TIG and FCAW. A trade test will be required and will include a weld test. Work must be to standard sufficient to pass a welder coding. Current offshore tickets are advantageous but not essential as training can be provided to the right candidate.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Carry out fabrication/welding duties to a high standard and within codes as directed by the Offshore construction supervisor
  • Ability to interpret/work from fabrication drawings
  • Ensure work areas are kept to a high standard, of tidiness and cleanliness
  • Ensure shared fabrication equipment are used, kept tidy and maintained correctly.
  • Ensure that the quality and health and safety management systems are followed and any problems, perceived or real are reported.
  • Have a pro-active approach to all tasks carried out and demonstrate a can-do attitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by Offshore construction supervisor

 

Accountabilities

  • Good housekeeping.
  • Production of quality product within acceptable time scale.
  • Quality assurance – All staff are responsible for the completeness of their work and reporting any quality, or perceived quality problems through the Offshore construction supervisor

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Welding qualification/Experience Essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer focus.
  • Understanding of deadline achievements is essential.
