SHETLAND CHARITABLE TRUST – TRUSTEE RECRUITMENT
Shetland Charitable Trust is recruiting new trustees to help with the Trust’s work of improving the quality of life for people in Shetland.
The Trust spent more than £8 million last year on charitable activities throughout Shetland. Since it was created in 1976, the Trust has disbursed over £320 million to a wide range of local charities, organisations and invidividuals.
No other part of the United Kingdom has a Trust with the level of resources and the ability to make such a positive difference.
Trustees are custodians of the Trust’s charitable funds and act as ambassadors for the charity. Trustees are expected to attend four formal meetings a year and also serve on various advisory committees. Formal meetings are held in the evening to make the Trust more accessible, particularly to those who have work or other commitments during the day.
The Trust is keen to develop a diverse board. We’re looking for enterprising and energetic individuals who are public-spirited. The work is unpaid but is rewarding. Appointments are for an initial four year period.
