Trainee Accounts Technician

Mackay Johnson is a local accountancy practice providing a broad range of accounting, taxation and business support services to businesses and individuals throughout Shetland.

As our practice continues to grow, we are looking to recruit a trainee to join our friendly and professional team based at North Ness Business Park, Lerwick.

You will receive full training while assisting with bookkeeping, payroll, accounts work and general office duties. You will learn how to use accounting software, help prepare client records and accounts, speak with clients on day-to-day matters, and support the wider team.

This opportunity would suit a school leaver, college leaver, or anyone looking to begin a career in accountancy. We are looking for someone who is reliable, keen to learn, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be fully supported in studying towards the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification, with course fees funded by us. You will combine online study with practical workplace experience and have opportunities to continue your professional development as your career progresses.

This is a full-time office based position.

Salary will be competitive and reflective of experience.
