Here at The Walter & Joan Gray, in Scalloway, Shetland, we don’t just see those we work with as older people.  Whether they are staying in our 16 bed care home or using our day care service, our goal is to ensure that every one of our service users enjoys the best possible quality of life.

You’ll have insight into what makes our place tick, and how to keep everything running smoothly, making sure that our positive multi-disciplinary team continues to work closely together.  It can be pretty challenging at times and priorities can change quickly so you will definitely need to be a calm and experienced individual.  You’ll also discover that there’s opportunity to bring in new ideas here though, so your day-to-day focus will involve everything from keeping an open door for our team and listening to our residents, to contributing to wider organisation strategy.

We’re proud of our innovative work here, so experience of recruiting, developing and managing a team in a similar care environment is expected.  Building effective networks with people will be key, together with a confident approach to managing a busy workload. We’re looking for 3 years’ experience of working in a care home as well as an SVQ Level 3 in Social Services or Health Care. You must also hold or be willing to work towards Level 4 in Social Services and Health Care and be prepared to work towards a SVQ Management Qualification in Care Services.
