We are currently recruiting for this new position which provides an exciting opportunity for a confident and enthusiastic individual to commence a career in administration & accounting.

Administration Apprentice – whose main duties will include:

  • Issue purchase orders to staff.
  • Maintain the purchase order register.
  • Process purchase invoices received.
  • Reconcile and code purchase orders/invoices to job costing.
  • Reconcile supplier’s statements.
  • File purchase orders/invoices.
  • General reception duties.
  • Provide general & holiday cover in other areas of the accounts department.

The apprenticeship will be based in our Lerwick accounts office.

The combination of practical training and further study will allow the candidate to experience and develop a wide range of administration & accounting skills, as well as obtaining further qualifications.

The apprenticeship will last for one to two years and leads to a SVQ in Business & Administration (Level 6).

After that, there is the potential for further study – previous apprentices have gone on to study the Professional Development Award in Financial Accounting (Level 7) and/or have undertaken graduate apprenticeships in Accounting at Robert Gordon University, which combines integrated work-based learning in Shetland together with remote learning and leads to a degree qualification.
