Court / Trial date set for domestic abuse case

A TWENTY seven year old woman has been granted bail after pleading not guilty to a raft of charges including being abuse and behaving aggressively towards her partner over a two-month period.

Patchala Johnson, of Lerwick, pleaded not guilty to charges of brandishing a sword and striking him on the body, holding a pair of scissors to his neck, and striking him on the body with a metal placemat to his injury.

She further denied uttering threats of violence towards him, throwing various items at him and damaging his phone and computer.

The behaviour is alleged to have taken place at an address in Lerwick between 16 April and 16 June this year.

Honorary sheriff Willie Shannon granted bail on the condition that she does not attend a specified address in the town and only contacts the complainer via a third party to arrange childcare.

Johnson was also ordered to surrender her passport. She was released from custody and is due to stand trial on 19 August.
