Court / Man remanded after denying all charges

Jury trials are set

A MAN from Lerwick has been remanded in custody ahead of trial after pleading not guilty to a number of charges, including assaulting staff at a butcher shop.

Grant Huntington, of Union St, appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court from custody via video link on Friday.

The 32-year-old denied assaulting two members of staff at Anderson Butchers on Commercial Road in Lerwick on 25 February by repeatedly throwing punches at them, punching them on the head and kicking them on the body.

Huntington also denied repeatedly attempting to enter the shop and a company vehicle, and shouting and swearing.

He is also charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the nearby Alex Morrison’s shop on the same day, and at a house on St Magnus Street, which he denied.

Huntington also pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the public toilets at Irvine Place in Lerwick on the same day by refusing to leave and shouting and swearing.

He will next appear in court on 12 May ahead of a trial on 10 June.

Huntington, who was representing himself, was remanded in the meantime after an application for bail was turned down.
