Power cuts

| Written by Shetland News

MORE than 1,200 Scottish & Southern Energy customers in Lerwick were without power for 40 minutes on Wednesday morning due to a fault in the overhead network.

A spokesman said that around 20 customers had to wait for three hours for power to be restored.

In a second fault during Wednesday afternoon, engineers were investigating reports of an intermittent power supply to a number of households in Whalsay.

The spokesman said that between 20 and 30 customers were affected, although so far only one customer had reported that the power was actually off.
