A NUMBER of local groups have received funding via Lerwick Community Council after nearly 250 people turned out to vote for their favourite projects.
The community council received £5,000 as part of a national participatory budgeting scheme, with projects eligible for up to £1,000.
The Loot For Lerwick event, held on Saturday, saw members of the public vote for projects they wanted to see receive a share of the funding.
Bell's Brae Primary School Pupils received £1,000 for trips within Shetland, while Bressay Park Run secured the same amount for its weekly running event.
The Staney Hill Hall committee received £1,000 for a programme of parties and social events as well as a community gardening project, as did Islesburgh Drama Group for a theatre school week.
Shetland Autism Friendly got its full request of £530 for materials and costs for a weekly club for people with autism and their family and friends.
Just under £500 was left over, which was given to Shetland Rugby Club to part-fund Tyoch Midder - a 'Tough Mudder' style endurance event for Shetland.
