The community council received £5,000 as part of a national participatory budgeting scheme, with projects eligible for up to £1,000.

The Loot For Lerwick event, held on Saturday, saw members of the public vote for projects they wanted to see receive a share of the funding.

Bell's Brae Primary School Pupils received £1,000 for trips within Shetland, while Bressay Park Run secured the same amount for its weekly running event.

The Staney Hill Hall committee received £1,000 for a programme of parties and social events as well as a community gardening project, as did Islesburgh Drama Group for a theatre school week.

Shetland Autism Friendly got its full request of £530 for materials and costs for a weekly club for people with autism and their family and friends.

Just under £500 was left over, which was given to Shetland Rugby Club to part-fund Tyoch Midder - a 'Tough Mudder' style endurance event for Shetland.
