Driver charged after failing to stop for police in Lerwick

| Written by Shetland News

A MAN has been charged with road traffic offences after failing to stop his car despite being followed through Lerwick by police officers with blue lights on.

The black Lexus car was signalled to stop by officers in a marked patrol car at around 4pm on Monday.

The car continued through Lerwick on Bruce Crescent through to North Road and subsequently onto the A970 where it continued to travel north.

Police said they stopped their pursuit at the Brig O'Fitch in the "interests of the safety of other road users".

Officers confirmed on Wednesday that a 42-year-old man is set to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court in due course after they traced the vehicle, which was seized.

The police wished to thank the public for their assistance.
