Man has car seized after appearing at court

| Written by Shetland News

A MAN from Weisdale has had his vehicle seized after appearing from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on two driving related charges including failing to provide specimens of breath to police officers.

Mark Gibson, of Gardie, made no plea on the charges, which are alleged to have taken place on Saturday (4 August) on the A971 opposite the Robinson and Morrison shop in Weisdale.

The 43-year-old was released from custody on Monday on the condition that he does not drive or is in charge of a vehicle while he is on bail.

A crown request to seize Gibson's vehicle in the meantime was granted, with procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie saying that if the case ends in conviction then the car may be forfeited.

Gibson will reappear at Lerwick Sheriff Court next Wednesday (15 August).
