Breach of bail costs £280

| Written by Shetland News

A MAN who breached a bail condition not to contact his ex-partner during an investigation into assault allegations has been fined £280 at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

John Sutherland, of Burnside, Lerwick pleaded guilty to the bail breach, which occurred on 19 May, the day after he had allegedly assaulted the woman at the Royal British Legion in Lerwick.

The charge against Sutherland of seizing and pushing his ex-partner was found not proven following a trial on Thursday.

However Sheriff Ian Cruickshank imposed the fine for the bail breach which had been admitted earlier.
