Caught speeding

| Written by Shetland News

FORMER north mainland councillor Bill Manson has been fined £365 and had his driving licence endorsed with five penalty points after admitting a speeding offence.

Appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday, the 75 year old pled guilty to driving at 75 mph on the A970 at Girlsta on 19 April, a stretch of road where 50 mph is allows.

Defence solicitor Tommy Allan said his client had "an exemplary record of public service" and had been driving for 57 years without incident.
