NOT only is Fair Isle looking forward to around-the-clock electricity later this year, but high speed mobile data could be set to follow too.
Mobile network EE has confirmed that it is looking into bringing 4G to the remote island, which has a population of around 55.
It is understood that there is no timeframe in place yet due to the complexities of bringing 4G to remote areas like Fair Isle.
A spokeswoman for EE said: "EE is committed to connecting people in some of the furthest reaches of the UK.
"As part of that work, we're currently investigating a new 4G site in Fair Isle."
Mobile operator O2, meanwhile, has also confirmed that it will soon be bringing 4G to Sandwick.
It will also upgrade its 2G and 3G coverage in the area.
