Hendra adrift

| Written by Shetland News

THE WHALSAY ferry Hendra is back in service after a problem with the port rudder control caused her to drift in Symbister harbour and collide with the floating pontoons of the marina on Tuesday evening,

Ferries operations manager Craig Robertson said that there was minor damage to the wooden pontoons and he added that fortunately no vessels moored were affected.

The Hendra was taken out of service on Tuesday for engineers to investigate why the port rudder had become stuck.

He said an issue with the circuit control board was fixed the following day and the Hendra returned to service on Wednesday.

Robertson said his colleagues from ports and harbours were currently assessing the damage to the marina and were arranging repairs.
