Kept in custody over bail breach

| Written by Shetland News

A TWENTY one year old man accused of breaching his bail conditions has been remanded in custody after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

Kyle Swannie, of Lerwick's Bakland, had been released on 9 January after denying charges that include assaulting a man and woman by biting them.

He appeared in court this afternoon on an allegation that he breached a special bail condition by approaching the two complainers via a social media video call on 28 January.

Honorary sheriff Malcolm Bell refused the defence's application for bail.

Swannie will remain behind bars until he faces trial on 15 March next month, with an intermediate diet on 27 February.
