Accused of assaulting officers

| Written by Shetland News

A MAN accused of assaulting two police officers after being told to turn down the speakers in his home has been bailed after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

Thomas Drever, of Hoofields, Lerwick, appeared from custody on Tuesday afternoon and had his cases continued without plea until 30 January.

He is charged with operating speakers and a television to the annoyance of a neighbour and failing to desist when he was asked to by police officers.

Drever is also charged with resisting, obstructing or hindering two constables in execution of their duty, attempting to prevent them from exiting the address and struggling violently with them.

He allegedly assaulted a female constable and slammed a door on her foot, and assaulted a male constable by butting him on the head.

Drever is also charged with failing to appear at court on 20 December without reasonable excuse.
