Charged with damaging vehicles using piece of wood

| Written by Shetland News

A FORTY eight year old man has been bailed after appearing in Lerwick Sheriff Court charged with damaging two vehicles belonging to his wife by striking them with a piece of wood.

David Lomas, of Midfield, Cullivoe, appeared from custody on Thursday and had his case continued without plea.

It is alleged that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by striking the two vehicles with a length of wood and attempting to pull their doors off, causing extensive damage.

The incident is also said to have been aggravated by involving the abuse of his partner or ex-partner.

Honorary sheriff Malcolm Bell granted bail with the special conditions that he must not approach his wife or the home address, and that he must attend any pre-arranged mental health appointments.

Lomas will appear in court again next Wednesday (20 December).
