THURSDAY's passenger and freight ferry sailings to and from Shetland have been cancelled due to the anticipated high winds.
Operator Serco NorthLink is also advising customers that both of Friday's passenger sailings are under review with the high probability of cancellation. An update will follow on Friday morning.
Shetland Islands Council is closing all of its schools for pupils from Thursday lunchtime, and they will remain shut on Friday. Shetland College and the NAFC Marine Centre have said they would do likewise.
It has also been confirmed that the Ninian Southern oil platform east of Shetland is being fully downmanned in light of structural concerns after 69 non-essential workers were initially taken ashore.
A host of local businesses are also choosing not to open late on Thursday night.
It is thought that Storm Caroline could bring gusts of up to 80mph to Shetland on Thursday evening.
