The coastguard helicopter touching down on Wednesday night. Photo: MCA The coastguard helicopter touching down on Wednesday night. Photo: MCA THE Sumburgh based Coastguard helicopter Rescue 900 airlifted an oil worker in urgent need of medical attention to hospital in Lerwick on Wednesday evening.

The Maersk Gallant drilling rig was 90 miles east of Lerwick when it alerted Shetland Coastguard at around 6.45pm.

The Coastguard helicopter landed at the Clickimin landing site at 9.30pm for the sick oil worker to be transferred to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in a waiting ambulance.
