Public Inspection Notice 2018

Ordered to stay off Foula

| Written by Shetland News

A FORTY eight year old man has been ordered not to return to Foula as part of his bail conditions after he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court from custody to deny an allegation of domestic assault.

William Ratter, whose bail address was given as Marfield Street, Glasgow, pleaded not guilty on Monday to assaulting his partner and repeatedly punching her head and body to her injury at an address in the tiny island community on Saturday (9 September).

He also denied shouting and swearing at her at the same address on the same day.

The charges say it will be proved in terms of section one of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016 that the alleged offences were aggravated by involving abuse of his partner or ex partner.

Sheriff Philip Mann agreed to release Ratter on bail with special conditions not to approach or contact the complainer and not to enter the island of Foula.

The case is due to go to trial on 10 November with an intermediate diet on 10 October.
