FUNDRAISERS who have helped to bring oxygen masks for animals to Shetland fire stations are looking for donations to expand the scheme in the isles.

After presenting the Yell fire crew with a set of masks on behalf of not for profit project Smokey Paws, friends Pheona Horne and Tricia Brown are hoping to provide equipment to the eight remaining Shetland stations - as well as giving extra sets to Lerwick and Brae.

In July the pair presented masks to Lerwick fire station as it became the first Scottish islands station to receive the equipment, which can be used to revive animals caught up in fires, and now six stations have sets.

Horne and Brown have written to community hall committees nearest to the remaining fire stations about finding sponsorship or donations towards sets of masks, which cost £90.

Anyone wishing to donate can contact 01595 880 418.
