A CELEBRATION was held in Fetlar at the weekend to recognise the strides the island has made in rebuilding its community.
Around 140 people attended the hall to recognise the steps made by Fetlar Developments Ltd to increase population levels.
The community run group has helped to increase the population from 48 in 2009 to the current tally of around 65.
A centrepiece of the celebratory event was a display with pictures of all the houses in Fetlar, which have been occupied in the last 50 years, with photos of their inhabitants also included.
The display will stay in the hall for a week before going to the Fetlar Interpretive Centre.
Fetlar development worker Robert Thomson said he was delighted to see such a positive turnout on Saturday, with some ex-residents from mainland UK making the trip home.
The night was made possible with a grant from the Lottery's celebrate fund.
"We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the celebration event on Saturday, which was an incredible success in its aim of bringing people together," Thomson said.
"On behalf of Fetlar Developments Ltd I would like to offer our thanks to the Big Lottery Fund and all those who worked to make the event a success."
