POLICE in Shetland were notified of a number of minor road accidents across the isles on Friday as heavy snow showers made for difficult driving conditions.
One car overturned and landed in the ditch near Wormadale on the A971 at around 9am. No one was injured.
A second car slid off the road and overturned at exactly the same spot about an hour later, although police said they had no knowledge of the second accident.
However, the owner of the second car has meanwhile contacted Shetland News saying they had reported the accident to police at about 10.30am the same morning.
Meanwhile, officers attended a one-vehicle road accident at Holmsgarth, in Lerwick, at around 7am. No one was injured.
Flights in and out of Sumburgh Airport were initially delayed this morning due to snow on the runway.
A spokeswoman for the airport said the snow had now been cleared and flights were getting back to normal.
